George gets a cold, he says, about once a month, and feels it comes a week or two after he starts going to the gym again. He has no record of when he was ill, so illness is estimated from his watch: resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, breathing rate and wrist temperature. The question is whether those illness signals follow his returns to training more often than chance would give.
