Effective as of October 14, 2026.
Your privacy matters to us, and what you send us is often about your health. We hold to a few principles:
- We ask only for the information we need to answer the question you bring us.
- We keep it only as long as we have a reason to.
- Your data is yours. We publish nothing about you without your consent.
- We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising.
- We aim to be plain about what we collect, why, and who else touches it.
Who we are and what this policy covers
PerSci is operated by William Jarrold, PhD, an individual doing business as PerSci, in California ("we", "us"). This policy applies to information we collect when you use https://persci.app, when you send us data for an analysis, when you join our waitlist or write to us, and when you use a chat bot or messaging assistant we operate in connection with PerSci (together, the "Services").
Information we collect
We collect information only if we have a reason to: to provide the Services, to communicate with you, or to make the Services better.
Information you provide to us
- Contact information. Your name and email address, and the handle of the messaging account you use to reach the chat bot.
- Your data. What you send or upload for analysis: for example exports from wearables, apps and spreadsheets, lab or scan results, food, sleep, training and symptom logs. Much of this is health information. You decide what to send.
- Your question. What you want your data to answer, and what you tell us about your circumstances.
- Chat bot messages. What you say to the chat bot, including voice messages and their transcripts, and the diary entries, reminders and reports you create with it.
- Communications with us. Emails, waitlist and contact form entries, questions you send from a results page, and feedback. When you use a form on the Website we store what you enter together with your IP address and browser type, and a copy is delivered to us as a Telegram message and as an email. This applies to anyone who uses a form, whether or not they use the chat bot. If you arrived through a link that carries a tag such as ?src=, your browser remembers that tag, the first page you visited, and the site that referred you, in its local storage on your device. Nothing is sent to us unless you submit a form, in which case it is stored with your submission.
Information we collect automatically
- Log information. Like most websites, our server records the browser type, IP address, referring page, and date and time of each request.
- Usage information. Which pages are viewed, and when you use the chat bot's features.
- Cookies. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics. We count visits from our own server logs.
- Links to other sites. Some links may refer you to Substack or other websites. Such sites have their own policies and cookies, and it is assumed that you are aware of them and have consented to them.
We do not buy information about you or collect it from other sources.
How and why we use information
- To provide the Services. To produce the analysis you asked for, and to run your reminders, diaries and reports.
- To communicate with you. To send results, ask questions about your data, and tell you about changes to the Services.
- To improve the Services, and to fix problems with them.
- To protect the Services, our users and the public, and to comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising.
Sharing information
We do not sell information about you. We share it only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. The Services run on other companies' systems, and your information passes through them: a cloud hosting provider (currently Amazon Web Services) stores the data; AI model providers (currently accessed through services such as Anthropic, OpenAI and OpenRouter, and subject to change) process your messages and data to produce responses and analyses; a messaging platform (currently Telegram) carries your conversation with the chat bot, if you use it, and delivers form submissions to us; and an email provider (currently Google's Gmail) delivers a copy of form submissions to us. Your chat bot messages pass through Telegram only if you use the Telegram chat bot associated with PerSci. Each handles the information under its own terms, and those terms govern what that provider may do with it.
- With your consent. An analysis of your data is published on the Website only if you agree to it, and under a codename or a first name of your choosing, never your surname (unless you explicitly ask for your surname). You can withdraw that consent, and we will take the page down.
- Aggregated or de-identified information, which can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.
- Legal requirements. In response to a subpoena, court order or other lawful governmental request.
- To protect rights, property and others, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary, for example where there is imminent danger of death or serious injury.
- Business transfers. If PerSci is acquired or its assets are transferred, your information may pass to the acquirer, who may use it only consistently with this policy.
The Services are not covered by HIPAA
PerSci is not a health care provider, health plan or insurer, and the Services are not HIPAA compliant. Please do not send us other people's health information.
How long we keep information
We keep your data for as long as you use the Services or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Server logs are kept for up to two years. We back up our server every night and keep those backups on a schedule that reaches back up to three years, so information you ask us to delete may remain in a backup until that backup expires. We do not use backups for anything except recovering from a failure. Our private working records of an analysis, such as notes and the history of the code written for it, may also retain details of it.
Security
While no online service is 100% secure, we work to protect information about you against unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction, and take reasonable measures to do so. Messages you exchange with the chat bot travel through the messaging platform and are subject to its security, not only ours.
Your choices and rights
- Limit what you send. You choose which data to give us. Less data may mean a less complete answer.
- See, correct or get a copy of your data. Ask us and we will provide it.
- Delete your data. Ask us and, within 30 days, we will delete it from our working systems and take down any published analysis of it, including earlier archived versions of the page. Copies in backups expire as described under "How long we keep information". Deletion cannot undo what has already happened, such as a copy someone else made of a page while it was public.
- Stop hearing from us. Tell us and we will stop, apart from messages needed to complete a request you made.
Depending on where you live, including California and countries covered by the GDPR, the law may give you further rights over your personal information. We will honor a valid request wherever you live, and will not treat you differently for making one. To use any of these, write to the address below.
Children
The Services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Privacy policy changes
We may change this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is significant we will tell the people whose data we hold. Your continued use of the Services after a change means you accept it.
